i love this painting the detail and mystery that surround it make it all the more intersting

Actually, I believe that this is a engraving. Albrecht Druerer did a lot of engravings on metal plates. He rubbed special inks on the plates and then the plates and paper were pressed creating an impression where the reliefs were.
